The International Day of Women and Girls in Science, took place on 11 February, implemented by UNESCO and UN-Women, in collaboration with other institutions and civil society.
This is a very important day, to celebrate the participation of women and girls in science and promote their full and equal access to science. Diversity in research helps advancing science, by bringing different perspectives and approaches. Empowering young girls to make their ideas heard, is equally important to support innovation and development.
Although gender equality is a global priority, gender bias in science still exists.
To improve this, institutions, academia, business and civil society must join forces.
SURPRISE plays its part too! Gender Equality is a cornerstone of our Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) approach. Our project boasts a diverse and gender equal project team, led by an expert female Principal Investigator, Valentina Raimondi from IFAC-CNR. Take a look at her interview about SURPRISE!
