2022 is a busy year for SURPRISE. We have already told you about the webinars with our potential end-users and about our participation in key scientific dissemination events.
In the meantime, intense research work goes on behind the scenes. At the end of May, we submitted five key deliverables related to our project Work Package 6 – Subsystems Procurement, Construction and Test.
This WP is dedicated to the construction, assembly and test of all the subsystems of the SURPRISE instrument. Work on this core WP has started following the design of these subsystems in WP4 and their modelling in WP5.
Deliverable D6.1 – Optical Assembly focuses on the various items the demonstrator builds on (either purchased or manufactured within the project) and on the assembly process. Deliverables D6.2 – Sync Electronics Board and D6.4 – Data Handling System describe the control electronics and the software driving the SURPRISE demonstrator. Last but not least, D6.3 – Scanning System and D6.5 – Test Equipment (OGSE) present the Target Scanning System to be used for AIT (Assembly, Integration and Test) activities in SURPRISE.
Have a look at our Materials and Outputs page to read the summaries of these deliverables.
The SURPRISE work will not slow not slow down in the next months. Our next technical review meeting with external reviewers and our project officer from the European Commission will take place at the end of September, other deliverables are under preparation, exploitation activities are moving on at a fast pace and the second SURPRISE project video will be released soon.
More updates will be published on this page soon!
