In these days the International Space Station (ISS) can be seen over Dresden (DE) in the evening. The SURPRISE partner Fraunhofer – IPMS, from their smart-work home desk in Dresden, could not miss this opportunity and took a picture to capture the moment!
The small bright point in the middle of the picture is ISS, whose actual size is almost equal to the one of a football field.
ISS is a joint programme involving five space agencies from USA, Russia, Japan, Canada and Europe, which is represented by ESA, one of the members of the SURPRISE Advisory Board. It is a space environment laboratory where researches and experiments on various subjects, including biology, physics, astronomy and meteorology, are conducted.
Working in extreme conditions, it provides scientists and experts worldwide with a unique environment to carry-out researches and tests that are crucial for innovations in science, technology and society.
